It is the Province of Puntarenas, it is located in Golfo Dulce. Here you can explore the incredible Corcovado National Park that will not disappoint you.Exploring the amazing Corcovado National Park will not leave you disappointed. The closest entrance to the park is La Leona, located to the south near the city of Carate. The trip will take approximately one hour, where you will find park rangers that will help you with information, there is no street to the park so visitors will have to start walking before the park entrance. Puerto Jiménez also has the administrative office of Corcovado National Park, which is a good place to stop and get prior knowledge before leaving for Corcovado Park.
Puerto Jiménez has its own airport located in the middle of a lush green vegetation north of the city. Flights arrive in the area regularly from San Jose, which could be the least stressful way to get there. By land, the trip can take approximately 9 to 10 hours, so this option does not seem so attractive.
At a very short distance south of Puerto Jimenez along the coastal route, the isolated Cabo Matapalo is located. This beautiful area has excellent waves for surfing and a feeling of isolation everywhere very common in the Osa. The unspoiled beaches of Matapalo in the south give a charming and easy access to the Corcovado National Park. If on the way south on highway 245, you decide to make a stop, two beaches will be waiting for you, Playa Tamales and Playa Sombrero, which extend between the coasts of Puerto Jiménez and Cabo Matapalo. Several vacation homes and accommodations can be found that overpass the white sands and blue ocean water.
