September is a special month for the Central American region. Several of their countries celebrate independence and fairs or other celebrations in honor of their respective countries. In connection to this month, we present you some curiosities of these countries:

Guatemala

This coming September 15, Guatemala will celebrate 199 years of independence. A curious fact about our country is that the Act of Independence of Central America was signed in the Royal Palace, in Guatemala City, on September 15, 1821.

Currently there are only two original manuscripts, one is exhibited in the General Archive of Central America in our country, and the other is kept in a safe. Each document consists of four pages, with eight sections in total.

Honduras

The second largest country in Central America has many interesting peculiarities. In this country you can find the Luminous Skulls with an antiquity of 1500 years, they are luminous due to a chemical process that occurs in the Talgua Caves.

It is also the only place in the world where the "rain of fish" occurs, this is in the state of Yoro, the phenomenon is so strange that in 1970 scientists carried out a study to see what caused this phenomenon.

Belize

This small country located right next to the Peten state was the last to become independent in 1981, however it is still part of the British colonies; although Queen Elizabeth has only visited Belize once.

Another curiosity is that actor Leonardo di Caprio bought Cayo Blackadore and an ecological hotel is under construction in the place and also a process of recovery of the environmental location of the island began. The idea is to recover some of the marine species at risk due to overfishing.

El Salvador

One of the characteristics that identifies El Salvador is its food. Especially pupusas, an important typical dish for locals and foreigners who visit. In 2015, they managed to break the first Guinness record for the largest pupusa in the world. To achieve this second record, it required the participation of more than 30 chefs, in addition to more than 150 pounds of flour and 90 pounds of cheese, which were its main ingredients.
