Museum of Postal service and Telegraphs

Located in the post office palace in zone 1 of the capital city, this museum houses the history of correspondence in Guatemala. It has rooms that shows part of the equipment used for the distribution of postal mail.

It also shows us the implementation of the telegraph, a short messaging system, which was very popular in the late 1950s.

The museum also has the complete collection of postage stamps that have been used over the years. To see the tour follow the instructions:

Miraflores Museum

The museum was founded in 2002 and has a collection of archaeological pieces from the ancient city of Kaminal Juyú. You can also see 3 mounds, in them are ruins of Mayan pyramids, which must be preserved without being excavated or exposed.

The remains were found in several excavations between the years 1994-1996. It also has a scaled model of the city and a collection of traditional clothing that were used in that region.

Another interesting thing you can visit is the reconstruction of a Mayan burial, which is located in the corridor that connects the museum with the shopping center.

Museum of Anthropology and Archeology of Estanzuela

This is one of the most interesting museums that you can visit in our country. It was inaugurated in the 70s and since then it has received national and foreign visitors throughout the year.

The complete skeleton of a mastodon and a giant sloth are the main attractions of this exhibition, in addition to being one of the 3 skeletons of these species that exist in the world.

Kilometer Cero

Inside the National Palace of Culture is kilometer 0, from which all the distances between the different departments of our country are measured. In addition to this, an exhibition with some of the palace's historical works is on display within this point.

Pieces of important artists such as Rudy Cotton, Elmar René Rojas, Rodolfo Abularach and Erwin Guillermo are kept on these walls as a sample of the talent of Guatemalan visual art.

Popol Vuh Museum

The history of our country is represented in each of the rooms of this museum. From Mayan archaeological pieces, to the Renaissance and the era of Guatemalan art and Baroque architecture.

Since its opening in 1977 thanks to the donation of Mr. and Mrs. Jorge and Ella Castillo from their personal collection. This was considered one of the most complete collections of historical pieces from that time.

Over the years the number of pieces has increased thanks to donations from private individuals and from both public and private companies.
